He previously served as dean of the UCSF School of Medicine and vice chancellor for medical affairs. In addition to his four-decade distinguished career at UCSF, he is renowned internationally for neonatology research. A native of Australia, Chancellor Hawgood earned his medical degree with first-class honors from the University of Queensland in Brisbane. He trained in pediatrics as a resident and specialized in neonatology as a fellow. Person Picture Nicquet Blake, PhD Person Title Dean, UCSF Graduate Division Vice Provost, Student Academic Affairs Dr. Blake is a leading voice on issues of equity and diversity in higher education. She previously served as senior associate dean for admissions and student affairs in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSA). At UTHSA, she expanded recruitment efforts to attract students from historically underrepresented backgrounds and gained financial support for retaining, supporting, and nurturing a more diverse student body. Dr. Blake earned her master's degree in biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and her doctorate in neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis.
